10 seconds

I can tell within 10 seconds if a launch will convert.

And I look at one thing.

That one thing could be the difference between you swanning around in a white flannel robe at a 5* spa…

Or crying into your Coco Pops.

This week I ran a workshop on this exact topic — how to get your launch copy to convert better.

And it’s not what most people think.

The strongest psychological lever you can use in your copy is aligning your copy with your audience's identity.

Lemme explain 👇

We all carry an internal story about who we are.

  • “I’m a serious business owner”
  • “I care about my health”
  • “I invest in myself”

Buying decisions are deeply connected to that story.

Psychologists call it cognitive dissonance — the discomfort we feel when our actions don’t match our beliefs about ourselves.

If someone believes they’re a serious business owner, but they avoid investing in support…

There’s tension.

And humans are wired to resolve this tension quickly.

When our actions don’t match who we believe we are, it feels uncomfortable.

So we look for ways to restore consistency - like changing behaviour or buying something that confirms the identity we already hold or want to hold.

If your offer confirms who someone believes they are — or who they’re becoming — people will buy.

If it clashes with their identity, resistance kicks in.

That’s why rewriting your sales page 12 times doesn’t fix low conversions.

Because you're editing the surface.

When the misalignment is underneath.

High-leverage messaging doesn’t operate at the feature level.

It operates at the identity level.

On Tuesday, I’ll share the simple 10 second test I use to see whether an offer is aligned at the identity level.

PS If you want your next launch to feel aligned instead of forced, I'm opening a two-week sprint soon.

It’s where we streamline your offer ecosystem so your positioning, promise and messaging all reinforce the same identity. You can join the waitlist here.

Hey Reader, I'm so glad that you're here! But before we get deeper together, I want to make sure you know who I am - and whether this is the right space for you.
